Our promise is in our name

Did you know that poorly maintained commercial dryers post a significant fire risk? Lint overload, a ripping fast spin rate, and a little heat – you can imagine the rest.

For this and other reasons, it’s important never to neglect your commercial dryer. Want to stay safe and efficient? Here’s what to do.

Lint Buildup – How to Avoid It

Go Beyond Cleaning Filters

Don’t just blindly clean your filters with every load. Make sure you occasionally check that the filters are in good condition. Over time, they can become clogged or otherwise worn, making them less effective. This could let lint and dust into other areas of your dryer, which can get dangerous.

Clean the Entire Cabinet and Duct

Clean the entire inside cabinet and duct at least once a year. If you let this one get away from you, you could be digging through 3cm of lint buildup throughout the entire interior of your dryer. Nip it in the bud and implement a cleaning schedule.

Clean the Burner

Clean or at least check the burner at least once a year. Ensure yours is in good shape as it can decay from exposure to heat and gas.

Belt Tension and Drum Position – Why You Should Care

The tension of the belt connecting the motor to drum is critical for proper dryer function. If the belt tension is wrong, or the position of the drum is not correct for some other reason, the drum can rub against the sides of the machine. Here are a few ways to avoid this.

Check Belts

Check the belt itself for cracking or fraying, and make sure it isn’t too loose, which could allow the drum to move about more than it should.

Check Bearings

The dryer drum relies on bearings to move freely and safely. Check for bearing wear by lifting up on the inside of the drum. If you’re able to lift the drum much more than one centimetre, that could be a sign of excessive wear on the bearings.

Consider Trunnion Adjustment

Some dryers allow you to adjust the trunnion – which means adjusting the bolts on the rear bearing assembly to keep the drum from rubbing on the front housing.
