Why you need to clean your Industrial Washer Parts
Did you know that one of the most common reasons for industrial washer failure is the lack of proper maintenance? That’s right. When your machines aren’t working properly, neither will your business.
Although you don’t need to be a guru in the art of washing machine and parts maintenance, you should at least know the basics.
In our latest blog, we explain why cleaning your industrial washer parts is essential, and how you can systemise the operation, without impacting your business.
Why do you need to clean your industrial washer?
In order to get into a routine of cleaning your commercial washing machines, you first need to understand the importance of why you need to do it.
With that in mind, here are a few reasons why you need to have a maintenance routine:
- Helps to increase the longevity of your washing machine
- Aids in cutting down utility costs
- Reduces the costs needed for replacing worn-out parts
- With no downtimes, you’ll retain happy and satisfied customers
Simple ways to effectively clean your industrial washer
The main parts to consider when cleaning your washing machine are the drum, filter, and detergent drawer.
To avoid machine breakdown, here’s how you maintain a clean washer:
The Drum
The drum is where you load your laundry. Cleaning the drum helps avoid bacteria and mould which if allowed to build-up reduce the efficiency of your machine.
Here are simple steps to ensuring your drum is up to par:
- Firstly, clean the inside of the machine door giving special attention to the seal.
- Secondly, fill the drum with hot water and turn the machine on to the longest wash cycle.
- Finally, repeat cleaning the drum using vinegar to remove soap scum and hard water deposits.
Remember to leave the door open for a few hours after every use to keep your industrial washer fresh for longer.
The Filter
The machine filter protects the washing machine pump from blockage, which is why it’s important to clean it regularly. Using your machine manual, locate your filter; take it out, and clean it using warm soapy water and a brush.
You could also opt to replace the machine filter regularly, using Maytag washing machine spare parts.
The Detergent Drawer
The detergent drawer is where you load your detergent and fabric softener, and also where you often find dirt and product build-up. Regularly cleaning it not only ensures it stays neat, but also helps you to avoid replacements due to corrosion.
Is your drawer removable? Then take it out and soak it in warm soapy water and rinse. If your drawer isn’t removable, use a cloth and warm soapy water to clean it instead.
Maintain your industrial washer to save your business
The more often you clean your commercial washer, the better your business becomes. But how often should you clean it?
As a rule of thumb, ensure you wash the inside of the machine every couple of months. Regularly wiping down the outside of the washing machine presents an overall cleanliness and attention to detail to your customers too.
Regular machine and parts maintenance are the key to longevity and following these simple tips will help.
